The 2023 Arab Sports Games took place in Algeria between 5th and 15th July 2023. The event featured 22 sports, and was hosted by five cities, with the sailing being held in Algiers.
SSL Team Bahrain Captain Abdulla Janahi had a superb event in the ILCA 7, winning all his races to win with two races to spare.
While Janahi has won the Arab Championships a few times before, as well as the Arab Games in 2019, this one was especially poignant, as he explains:
“This one was special as I lost my uncle, Abdulaziz Janahi, two months prior to the event. He was the one that helped me go sailing when I was young. I prepared well for the event and made a historic win by winning every single race of the event.”
